PATRONS OF ...

Patronal festivals in Apulia: Patron Saints of Apulia 2012

Sparks of devotion, tradition and spectacle light up Apulia from the Gargano to Salento: patronal festivals in Apulia are not just religious events, but sensory experiences that turn every village into a stage of lights, bands and fireworks.

Why choose your cultural trip to Apulia

> Cultural tourism in Apulia all year round: winter processions, summer morning 'dianas', autumn festivals.
> Tasteful itineraries combining faith, baroque art and country cuisine.
> Authentic destinations far from mass tourism, ideal for deseasonalising tourism.

The bilingual guide that makes the difference

I have produced 'Patrons of Apulia - The Feast', a 160-page, full-colour IT/EN guide that recounts fieldwork among thirty Apulian municipalities.
Maps, up-to-date calendars and historical curiosities help you plan an informed itinerary among shrines, illuminations and 'battery' fires.
The itineraries are divided into the various types of festivals: pilgrimages, fires and lights, triumphal floats, historical processions and sea festivals from Gargano to Salento.

PER CRUCEM ...

In the heart of the Jubilee 2025, the travelling exhibition Per Crucem ad Lucem lights up Rome and Molfetta with 40 never-before-seen shots revealing the rites of Holy Week in Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Each image, in full colour and large format, captures the emotional power of centuries-old processions in Molfetta, Braga, Bercianos de Aliste, Medina de Rioseco and Peñafiel, transcending geographical boundaries to narrate a unique, intense Mediterranean spirituality.

An experience of religious and cultural tourism

> A visual journey among hooded figures, baroque statues and penitential drums.
> Focus on common traditions and local peculiarities, ideal for those studying territorial marketing.
> Perfect cue for tourist deseasonalisation packages during the Easter period.

The official catalogue: 168 pages of emotion

The publication 'Per Crucem ad Lucem - Holy Week 2025' combines documentary photography with bilingual IT/EN critical texts. Inside you will find:
> Historical-artistic fact sheets of the five main centres.
> Suggested itineraries
> Insights into turning Easter rituals into engines of sustainable development.

How to host the exhibition

EASTER IN ...

Holy Week in Apulia - Easter of authentic emotions

Amid flickering torches and slow drums, Holy Week in Apulia transforms alleys and squares into a sacred stage: nocturnal processions, hooded confraternities and centuries-old chants immerse you in a vibrant faith that unites the entire region, from Gargano to Salento.

A journey of cultural religious tourism Puglia that touches the soul

> Penitential rites at dawn in the villages of the Gargano.
> Strong emotional pathos in the Costa dei Trulli
> "Troccolanti" and silent "pardons" in the heart of Magna Graecia.
> Processions of Our Lady of Sorrows and Baroque 'Mysteries' in the Salento.
Each stage reveals age-old traditions, sacred art and Easter flavours such as cuddhura and scarcella, perfect for unseasonal tourism outside the usual seaside circuits.

A publication recounting Easter rites in Apulia

I have produced Pasqua in Puglia - La Settimana Santa, a 170-page colour IT/EN photo guide. The result of field reportage in twenty municipalities in Apulia, the pocket guide offers:
> Detailed maps with updated dates of celebrations.
> Historical-artistic fact sheets of the main cults.
> Itineraries divided by province from the Gargano to Salento
Each chapter invites the reader to experience first-hand silence and contemplation until the explosion of joy on Easter Sunday.

VALLADOLID

Photoracconcert of a cultural bridge between Spain and Apulia

How the 'Plenilunio di Primavera' project came about

I documented, page after page, the tourist-cultural promotion initiative that linked the rites of Holy Week between Spain and Apulia.
The result is a photographic volume acquired by theUniversity of Valladolid, a unique testimony of international territorial marketing.

From Gargano to Valladolid: events that unite territories

> Concerts of traditional Apulian and Castilian music.
> Travelling photographic exhibitions.
> Food and wine events
> Conferences on the value of Easter as intangible heritage.
I coordinated all the stages: Valladolid, Molfetta, Vico del Gargano, Bitonto and Lecce. A route made possible by the collaboration with the Feart cooperative in Molfetta.

Results and impact

> 5 cities involved in two countries.
> 3 integrated event types (music, photography, gastronomy).
> Photographic volume adopted as a case study by the University of Valladolid.
> More than 5,000 total visitors and coverage in 6 trade media.
